WHAT IS THE LAW OF GOD STATED IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS?
The word "law," for many of us, seems synonymous with "rule," or "restriction" or "things I can't do." In actuality, the intent of the law should be the good of the people to whom it applies. This is true of God's law. When God spoke his law directly to Moses for the people of Israel, he did so because he loved them and was concerned that they live safely and successfully. God's law as stated in the Ten Commandments is intended to bless rather than burden the people who live under its authority. Each of the commandments reveals something about the character and nature of God. When we study the law, we begin to understand the mind of God; we begin to know what he loves and what he hates.
