Question 12 - What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?

ICEBREAKER ACTIVITY
What is your favorite holiday? Do you have a specific memory of celebrating that holiday that sticks out to you?

READ EXODUS 20:16-17
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
“You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”

Question: What does God require in the ninth and tenth commandments?
Answer: Ninth, that we do not lie or deceive. Tenth, that we are content, not envying anyone.

RESPONSE QUESTIONS
  1. When is it easier to lie instead of tell the truth? 
  2. How can trusting God help you tell the truth in those situations?
  3. Make a list of things you are tempted to covet. What do they have in common?
  4. How can being content with what God has given you help you not become jealous of other people’s stuff?

Review all 10 commandments from Exodus 20. Each person pick one you would like the most help with following and pray for God to help you with it.
